The Process

The Process

Research & Analysis

Market research, ergonomic testing, and material exploration Ideation began with market research, followed by sketching and rough model-making in order to develop the form. After doing ergonomics testing, I finalized my chair to have a seat height of 19inches, and a backrest angle of 20 degrees.

Development

I created many small scale cardboard models, then began ideating with correct measurements in CAD. Discovering I wanted to have a complex design, I decided to keep the form simple. Before any fabrication, I created a full scale cardboard model.

Construction

The chair was made with cherry wood, and a variety of wood veneers for the inlay. The legs and seat back were achieved with CNC and the inlay was cut and compleated by hand.
